It’s likely that one day machine learning will be good enough to produce works of art that are as good as anything a human can create. With a few exceptions that day is still awhile away.

Botnik is a community of writers, artists and developers using machines to create things on and off the internet. They successfully funded a Kickstarter campaign to produce a pop album called, “Songularity” based on songs written by humans and artificial intelligence.

When Elle O’Brien fed Botnik Studio’s neural network a diet of the greatest hits from country music, the lyrics that popped out became a song called, “You Can’t Take My Door.”

While the song brimming with references country music fans will find familiar, the AI is still in the Damn You Autocorrect stage of development.

The lyrics make me laugh, but that line about being “a gambler for a great big bed” is also all kinds of relatable.

You Can’t Take My Door (lyrics)

Her daddy was strong and the stars of heaven
And the road was a gambler for a great big bed
He was money, the devil, the crazy strings
and the shot of her lady and she said

No you can’t take my door
I don’t wanna love you anymore
Won’t let my heart be my face
Barbed whiskey good and a whiskey straight
No you can’t take my door

I want to be the one to make a living through the jukebox
you say you want me to try to have your clothes
so I’ll be happy, honky tonking at the bus
Same old crowd is the one who knows

Look at yourself and a hand and a shelf in the wind
Oh look at yourself and a hand and a shelf in the wind

No you can’t take my door
I don’t wanna love you anymore
Won’t let my heart be my face
Barbed whiskey good and a whiskey straight
No you can’t take my door

Forget it the world and the band and angels
said I want to be a truck and the heart of mine
Must’ve been in the crowd in a cowboy baby
Can’t stand the cold beer in the moonlight

Look at yourself and a hand and a shelf in the wind
Oh look at yourself and a hand and a shelf in the wind

No you can’t take my door
I don’t wanna love you anymore
Won’t let my heart be my face
Barbed whiskey good and a whiskey straight
No you can’t take my door
No you can’t take my door
You can’t take my door
